A 21-year-old Bowmore from Islay, distilled in 1998 and bottled in 2019 as a distillery exclusive. It was matured in ex-bourbon casks and given a Pedro Ximénez finish. 2,500 bottles were filled at 49.7% ABV.
Bowmore was founded in 1779 and is among the best known Islay distilleries.
The nose is oily and creamy, with ripe sherry, raisins, dried figs, blueberries and dark cherries, only a mild note of smoke, then tobacco, old leather and dry oak. The palate is full and creamy, with orange, honey, pickled raisins and dark chocolate, and a light smokiness. The finish is very long, with vanilla, raisins, chocolate and toffee.
