Bowmore Essence of Islay is an 11 year old Islay single malt from the Travel Exclusive Series, bottled at 40% ABV. Bowmore stands on Loch Indaal and has distilled since 1779.
The whisky matured for eleven years in American ex-bourbon casks and Spanish oak sherry casks.
Bowmore smoke meets dark chocolate on the nose, with walnut brittle and fresh sourdough bread. Sweet red berries and a lemony freshness follow, and the finish is long, with pine resin.
