Bowmore – Whisky Sponge 18 Year Old Edition No.74 is a single malt whisky from Bowmore (Islay). Aged 18 years, bottled at 55.3% ABV, 70cl. Matured in refill sherry butt. The whisky was distilled in 2003 and matured initially in a refill sherry butt, however it was removed from this cask and placed in a neutral container mid-way through its maturation. It was then placed into another refill sherry butt, for a total of 18 years of maturation in-cask. The oldest operational distillery on the isle of Islay, built in 1779. Today it is part of the Suntory Group, having been acquired by the Japanese company in 1994. Under their ownership is has been nurtured into one of the most collectable names in Scotch whisky.
