Brora – 30 Year Old 2nd Special Release 2003 (70cl, 55.7%)

This is a 30 year old Brora, a coastal Highland single malt from the distillery's official 2nd Special Release. It was bottled in 2003 at natural cask strength of 55.7%, in a 70cl bottle, from an outturn of 3000 bottles. The notes describe a whisky that unfolds slowly, with tropical fruit, farmy and coastal character and a lift of smoke, held together in a balanced, elegant style. On the nose there is coffee, pineapple liqueur, dried pear, fig spirit, smoke, pepper and seaweed. The palate brings liquorice, gentian root, tar and dried fruits, with ginger, nutmeg, clove and chestnut honey. The finish is long and rooty, with white pepper.
