Bruichladdich Islay Barley 2011 is an Islay single malt made from barley harvested in 2010 on eight farms on the island. It was distilled in 2011 and matured on Islay in a combination of bourbon, sherry and wine casks. It is bottled at 50% ABV, non-chill filtered and without added colouring, and has a clear gold colour.
The nose has barley, honey, lime, green apple, chamomile and white flowers, then vanilla, cream and a light maritime note. The palate is full and oily, with honeycomb, peach, vanilla and citrus, and hints of hazelnut and soft caramel. The finish is long, with vanilla, honey and a touch of salinity.
