Octomore 15.1 is the fifteenth edition of Bruichladdich's heavily peated Islay single malt series, with a peat level of 108.2 PPM. It is bottled at 59.1% in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky was distilled from Scottish-grown Concerto barley harvested in 2016 and matured for five years on Islay in first-fill American whiskey casks. It is bottled at cask strength, without chill filtration or added colouring.
The nose brings maritime smoke, sea spray, burnt heather and vanilla custard. On the palate, peat smoke meets butterscotch, poached pear, citrus zest and salted caramel. The finish is very long, with smoke, sea salt, sweet malt and spiced honey.
