Octomore 17.3 is a super heavily peated Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, bottled at 60.9% ABV in a 70cl bottle. All of its barley was grown in Irene's Field on Octomore Farm, two miles from the distillery, and peated to 132.1 PPM.
The whisky matured for five years in first-fill bourbon barrels alongside second-fill Ribera del Duero, Sauternes, Eiswein and Syrah casks.
The nose shows sweet oak, salted caramel, smoked apple and toasted coconut, with praline and vanilla cream. The palate brings earthy, charred peat and dry, ashy smoke, cut by citrus oils and salinity.
