Bruichladdich – Old Skool 10 Year Old 25th Anniversary (50%)

This is a 10 year old Islay single malt from Bruichladdich, released to mark the distillery's 25th anniversary and bottled at 50% ABV. Its design draws on the distillery's retro labels of the 1980s, and the spirit was distilled from barley grown on Islay. Most of the whisky matured in first-fill bourbon casks, with a smaller parcel from first-fill Sauternes casks. The bourbon wood brings vanilla, soft fruit and creamy sweetness, while the Sauternes adds ripe stone fruit and honey. On the nose there is a medley of stone fruits, followed on the palate by soft barley sugar and stewed pear.
