Bruichladdich – Port Charlotte 7 Year Old 2014 Islay Barley (50%)

This is a heavily peated Islay single malt from Port Charlotte, the peated style made at Bruichladdich. It is made entirely from Islay-grown barley harvested on eight local farms, and was peated to 40 PPM. The spirit was distilled in 2014 and matured for seven years in first-fill bourbon casks, second-fill virgin oak and second-fill Bordeaux wine casks, then bottled at 50% ABV. The mix of woods adds vanilla sweetness, oak spice and a touch of red fruit, while the smoky, maritime character of the spirit stays in front.
