Bulleit Bourbon 10 Year Old is distilled by Four Roses in Lawrenceburg from a mash of 68% corn, 28% rye and 4% malted grain. It matures for ten years in heavily charred oak casks.
Augustus Bulleit distilled a whiskey under this name in the 1830s. Production stopped after his death in 1860, and his great-great-grandson Tom Bulleit later began making it again.
The nose offers vanilla, cinnamon and a touch of smoked oak. The palate is round and full-bodied, with vanilla, fresh summer fruit and cinnamon. The finish is long and powerful, with fresh oak spice and more vanilla.
