Bunnahabhain 12 Year Old Cask Strength is the distillery's annual small-batch release at undiluted strength, and the 2023 edition is the third. It is an unpeated Islay whisky, bottled at 60.1% ABV in a 70cl bottle, the highest strength of the series so far.
The casks are chosen from Warehouse 9 and are mainly sherry, with a small share of bourbon barrels.
The nose brings cracked black pepper, creamy vanilla, tropical fruit salad, sea breeze and stewed plums. On the palate are figs, tinned peaches, nutmeg, toasted almond and salted caramel. The finish is earthy vanilla with stone fruit sweetness.
