This is an 18 year old single malt from Bunnahabhain on Islay. Unlike many of its island neighbours, Bunnahabhain is known for an unpeated Islay malt.
The distillery stands on the Sound of Islay, the most northerly on the island, and until 1960 it could be reached only by boat. Its pear-shaped stills are the tallest on Islay, and their unusually long swan necks encourage a lighter, more delicate spirit because heavier flavour compounds struggle to reach the top.
