Bunnahabhain – Moine 2007/2018 11 Year Old Bourbon Hogsheads (70cl, 48%)

This is an 11 year old Bunnahabhain single malt in a 70cl bottle, distilled in 2007 and bottled in 2018 at 48% ABV. It is a very small batch drawn from three bourbon hogsheads. Bunnahabhain made an unpeated malt from 1963 to 1997 and has since returned to peat. This Moine explores peat in many forms, from mellow and camphoric to medicinal, oily, salty, smoky and ashy. The nose is rich, with mellow, camphoric peat and lichen, then medicinal notes alongside white grape. Chocolate, smoke, lychee and raspberry follow. The long finish is dominated by peat, with bacon, smoked fish and cigar smoke.
