Bunnahabhain Stiùireadair is an Islay single malt bottled at 46.3% in a 70cl bottle. The name is Scots Gaelic for helmsman.
It is matured in a mix of first and second-fill sherry casks, giving a heavier sherry influence than the distillery's classic bottling, and it is non-chill-filtered. Bunnahabhain, founded in 1881 on the north-eastern edge of Islay, is known for unpeated whisky.
The nose has dried fruits, creamy fudge and warm spice over sea spray and toasted oak. The palate is velvety, with cinnamon, sultana, caramelised nuts and briny malt. The finish is long and warming, with spice, salted caramel and a little coastal smoke.
