An independent bottling of Balmenach-Glenlivet from Cadenhead's, a 15 year old Speyside single malt at 46% ABV. The whisky was distilled in 2011 and has been finished since 2020 in fresh Palo Cortado sherry hogsheads.
Balmenach uses worm tub condensers, which gives a heavy, full and robust distillate to stand up to the dry sherry character of the casks.
The nose is fresh grass, salted pretzels, soft caramel, dulce de leche and tiramisu. The palate is full and velvety, with cappuccino, dark chocolate truffles and ripe banana. The finish is long and dry, with cocoa powder, walnut, blood orange and black pepper.
