This is a single-cask Islay malt from Caol Ila, distilled in 2007 and matured for 17 years in a refill sherry butt. Gordon & MacPhail bottled it in March 2025 for their Connoisseurs Choice range.
It comes at a cask strength of 57.1% in a 70cl bottle, with an outturn of 404 bottles.
The nose combines sweet toffee, red apple and strawberry jam with a waft of coastal peat smoke. The palate is rich and layered, with sherried sweetness balanced by smoky peat, citrus zest and warming spice. The finish is long, with a lingering bonfire-tinged smokiness.
