Caol Ila – 17 Year Old (Ex-Bourbon Quarter Cask) (70cl, 57.5%)

This is a 17-year-old Caol Ila from Islay, matured in an ex-bourbon quarter cask and bottled at its full cask strength of 57.5%. It was not chill-filtered and has no added colour. The cask yielded 89 bottles of 70cl. The whisky spent nearly three years in the quarter cask, after time in a hogshead, and keeps the peat smoke Caol Ila is known for. It is described as having heavy peat smoke with a fine sweetness behind it, and a long, distinctly medicinal finish.
