This is a 40 year old Caol Ila from Islay, distilled in 1984 and bottled as Artist #15, Something in the Water. It was matured in a refill hogshead, number 8484006286, and bottled in a 70cl bottle at 51.3% ABV, without chill filtration or added colour.
The nose is peaty and smoky, with camphor, soft vanilla, apricot and a touch of freshly cut wood. The palate is described as deep, complex and refined, with great age polishing the smoke that marks Caol Ila.
