This Caol Ila is a single cask Islay single malt, bottled in 2023 by the independent bottler Cooper's Choice. It comes in a 70cl bottle at 44.5% ABV and is bottled without chill filtration.
It was matured in a single port cask, number 255, which adds fruity, wine-like character to the peated Caol Ila spirit.
The nose is maritime peat smoke with red berries, dried fruits, plum and dark cherry. The palate brings smoke and sea salt with blackcurrant, raspberry jam and dark chocolate, with an oily texture and cinnamon and clove. The finish is long and warming, with smoke, dried fruits and a little tannic dryness.
