Caol Ila Distillers Edition is an Islay single malt bottled at 43% ABV. It is first matured for twelve years in oak casks, then moved for six months into Moscatel casks, a double maturation that adds sweetness to the distillery's peaty, smoky style.
The nose combines exotic fruit liqueur and ripe fruit with peat, iodine, ash, pepper and clove. The palate is round and soft, with fruit, peat and sweet malted barley. The finish is long and dense, with smoke, bitter aniseed and floral notes of lily, iris, lavender and tuberose.
