Caperdonich – 18 Year Old Peated (70cl, 48%)

This is an 18-year-old peated single malt from Caperdonich, the Speyside distillery that was founded in 1898, stood opposite Glen Grant and closed in 2002. It is a limited distillery bottling, matured in American oak barrels and bottled at 48% without chill-filtering or added colour. Its pronounced peat character is unusual for Speyside, and sits alongside fruity notes. The nose offers sweet toffee, dried fruit and a hint of smoke. The palate opens creamy, with vanilla, roasted nuts and gentle peat smoke. The finish is long, sweet and smoky.
