Caperdonich – 18 Year Old Small Batch Peated (70cl, 48%)

This is an 18 year old peated Speyside single malt from Caperdonich, a distillery that closed in 2002. It is an official bottling from the Peated Small Batch Release, matured in American oak barrels and bottled at 48% without chill filtration. The peat gives it a smoky side alongside the sweeter fruit of Speyside. Bonfire smoke and peat sit with orange, apple, brown sugar, vanilla and ginger. On the nose, expect bonfire smoke and peat with orange, vanilla and spicy ginger. The palate is smoky and robust, with apple, brown sugar, sweet malt and woody spice. The finish is long, dry and smoky.
