Caperdonich – 18 Years Peated (70cl, 48%)

This is an 18 year old peated single malt from Caperdonich, a Speyside distillery that operated from 1898 until 2002. It is an official bottling in the Rare Edition, released as a small batch in a 70cl bottle at 48% ABV, non-chill-filtered. The whisky matured in American oak barrels and was bottled on 9 May 2019. Peat is not what Caperdonich is usually known for, which makes this release unusual. The nose brings peat and campfire with fresh fruit, almond and spice. The palate is firm, with peat, smoke, pepper, orange and oak. The finish is medium in length, with peat, citrus and chocolate.
