Caperdonich – 1979/2023 43 Year Old Gordon & MacPhail Private Collection Cask 1105 (70cl, 53.1%)

This is a 43-year-old single cask Speyside single malt from the closed Caperdonich distillery, chosen for the Gordon & MacPhail Private Collection. It is bottled at 53.1% ABV in a 70cl bottle, without added colour and non-chill-filtered. The whisky was distilled on 6 March 1979 and matured in a refill sherry butt, cask 1105. Bottling in 2023 produced 246 bottles worldwide. The nose combines creamy caramel, toasted almonds, ripe orange, thyme and oak. On the palate come sultanas and dates alongside dark chocolate, orange and fine cinnamon. The finish is long, with oak spice and a slowly fading sweetness.
