Caperdonich – 1982-2019 36 Year Old Gordon & MacPhail Private Collection Single Cask 15179 (70cl, 46.6%)

A single cask Caperdonich distilled in 1982 and bottled in 2019 at 36 years old by Gordon & MacPhail for their Private Collection Series. It comes in a 70cl bottle at a natural cask strength of 46.6%, without colouring or chill filtration. The whisky matured in refill bourbon barrel 15179 and yielded 114 bottles. Caperdonich was built as a back-up to Glen Grant. The nose offers citrus peel, toffee, sweet hay, dried flowers, honeysuckle and fresh mint. On the palate liquorice root comes first, then crisp red apple, drying oak and nuts, with a generous sweetness remaining. The finish turns to a fresh, hop-like note, with mature oak lasting.
