Caperdonich Peated is an 18 year old single malt bottled at 48% in a 70cl bottle. It was matured in American oak barrels and released as a small batch, batch CP/005, without chill-filtration.
The nose pairs peat smoke with fruit: pipe tobacco and woodsmoke sit alongside candied orange peel, warm ginger biscuits and a touch of mint. On the palate the peat leads but stays measured, with sweet soot, charcoal and mesquite, then tinned pears and apple chips. The finish is long and honeyed, with cigar smoke and over-baked apple strudel.
