This is a 14 year old Cardhu single malt Scotch whisky, part of Diageo's 2021 Special Releases. The label carries a large tree, in keeping with that year's 'Legends Untold' theme.
It was first aged in refill American oak casks, then finished in red wine casks, which adds a gentle red fruit sweetness while the Cardhu character stays at the centre.
The nose is floral and grassy, with apples, honey and sweet barley, and a drop of water brings out creaminess. The palate has orange blossom, peaches, cinnamon, honey and black pepper. The finish is long, with sweet vanilla and stone fruit.
