A Speyside single malt from Cardhu, a distillery exclusive release in its third batch, bottled at 48% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It is matured in a combination of five casks: refill and ex-bourbon American oak, sherry-seasoned casks, wine casks and highly charred American oak.
Cardhu was founded in 1824 by John Cumming and is now run by Diageo. The name comes from the Scots Gaelic Carn Dubh, meaning Black Rock.
The nose is rich and fruity, with apples and pears, roasted cocoa, wood spice and citrus and floral top notes. The palate is full and complex, with orchard fruits giving way to sweet oak, heather honey and hints of caramel.
