This is a 14 year old single cask Auchroisk from the Cask Masters range, bottled by Brave New Spirits at 50.5% in a 70cl bottle. It is non-chill-filtered and has no artificial colour, and 343 bottles were filled.
The whisky was aged in a Saint-Estèphe red wine barrique that previously held a Bordeaux Cabernet blend, so the nutty, orchard fruit character of the malt is joined by earthy spice and apple-skin notes from the cask.
The nose offers orchard fruits, florals, cedar smoke and a subtle earthiness. On the palate, apple strudel dusted with cinnamon and white pepper leads into a drying close, and the finish is long, elegant and dry.
