This is a 15 year old single malt from Orkney, bottled by the independent firm A.D. Rattray. It was matured in ex-bourbon casks and is meant as a nod to the neolithic folklore of the Orkney islands.
A.D. Rattray was founded in 1868 by Andrew Dewar and William Rattray. Tim Morrison, former owner of Morrison Bowmore Distillers, now owns the company.
The nose combines floral honey, syrupy stone fruit, smoked heather and glowing bonfire embers. On the palate come grilled tropical fruit, burnt brown sugar, salted nuts and cinnamon. The finish is rich with smoke, orange peel and pine.
