This is a single cask Chichibu bottled for Selfridges. It was distilled in 2018, matured for seven years in a first-fill bourbon barrel and bottled in 2025 at cask strength, 59.5% ABV, non-chill filtered and with no added colour. The cask gave 195 bottles.
Chichibu was founded by Ichiro Akuto and sits in Saitama prefecture, about 100km from Tokyo. The label echoes the window displays of the Oxford Street store.
The nose is candied lemon peel, baked apple, roasted pear, honeysuckle, cinnamon and bourbon vanilla. The palate is oily, with ripe peach, brown sugar and custard-like vanilla. The finish is long and warm, with sugared peach skin and orchard blossom.
