This is a 7 year old Japanese single malt from Chichibu, distilled in 2012 and matured in a single first-fill bourbon barrel. It was bottled for Asta Morris to celebrate the bottler's 10th anniversary, in a 70cl bottle, with 204 bottles produced.
The first-fill barrel added fruity and sweet notes to the spirit. Chichibu distillery is in Saitama Prefecture and began production in 2008.
The nose offers tropical fruits, red apples, oranges, mango, honeydew melon, caramel, burnt wood and powder. The palate is full-bodied, with berries, apple juice, salted lemon and some minerality. The finish is short, with dark chocolate, cinnamon, mint and grassy notes.
