Ichiro's Malt Double Distilleries is an unpeated Japanese blended malt that joins two distilleries and two generations of the Akuto family. Most of it is Chichibu, with malt from the remaining stocks of the closed Hanyu distillery, founded by Ichiro Akuto's grandfather.
The malts matured in ex-bourbon puncheons and hogsheads, other puncheons and Mizunara oak, with ex-sherry hogsheads in the Hanyu part. It is bottled at 46.5%, non-chill-filtered and without added colour.
The nose is malty and sweet with jasmine, apricot and orange. The palate is lively, with soft oak and mandarin, and the finish is long and peppery.
