This is the fourth edition of On The Way, a series from Ichiro's Malt at Chichibu that shows the distillery's current whisky style on the road towards a future 10 year old. It is a limited edition single malt in a 70cl bottle.
All the barley was floor malted at the distillery. The whisky matured in a mix of casks: bourbon barrels, sherry casks, mizunara oak, wine casks and small Chibidaru casks, with whisky aged between nine and 15 years.
The nose is bright and honeyed, with kumquat, peach and sweet vanilla. The palate is rich and creamy with ripe peach and plum, and the finish is long, ending with orchard fruits.
