A single cask Japanese whisky from Chichibu, blended from malt and grain whiskies and released as Allegro in the Ichiro's Malt series. It was matured in a third-fill ex-peated bourbon barrel and bottled in 2025 at a natural cask strength of 60% ABV, with 240 bottles in the release, in a 70cl bottle.
Ichiro Akuto selected the cask, and the whisky is lightly peated. The nose brings smoked mackerel, BBQ coals and crispy bacon alongside pineapple, papaya, guava and vanilla. On the palate, peat and malt meet roast beef spice, manuka honey, candied pineapple and rhubarb jam. The finish is long, the smoke and spice fading as candied tropical fruit comes forward.
