Chichibu – Paris Edition 2024 (70cl, 50.5%)

This is a limited Chichibu release at 50.5% in a 70cl bottle, a tribute to the monuments of Paris and Tokyo. Its label is made of traditional Japanese washi paper. It is a vatting of 12 bourbon barrels, two quarter casks (chibidaru) and a red wine cask, with an average age of six to seven years. A subtle peat sets the tone. The nose opens with light peat, lemon, menthol and vanilla, then banana and pineapple, with verbena and bay leaf. The palate is dry grass, cut hay and pepper over wet earth, then toasted bread, chestnut and date. The finish is long, with coconut milk, candied pear, rosemary, cardamom, clove and fresh ginger.
