Chicken Cock is a Kentucky Straight Bourbon bottled at 45% in a 75cl bottle. It is distilled at Bardstown Bourbon Company under Master Distiller Gregg Snyder, and the brand has been revived by Grain & Barrel Spirits. The mashbill is 70% corn, 21% rye and 9% malted barley, and the bourbon won a Double Gold medal at the New York International Spirits Competition.
The name dates to the 19th century and became well known in Prohibition, when the whiskey was smuggled across the Canadian border in tin cans.
The nose offers corn sweetness, vanilla, lemon curd and summer flowers. The palate brings caramel apple, baking spices and stone fruit. The finish is medium-long and warm, ending on black pepper.
