Chivas Regal The Icon (70cl, 40%)

Chivas Regal The Icon is a blended Scotch whisky at 40% ABV, in a 70cl bottle. It is the work of Colin Scott, a veteran master blender at Chivas Brothers. The blend brings together some of the oldest and rarest casks. Its heart is the finest Strathisla casks, joined by whiskies from distilleries such as Longmorn and Glen Keith, some of which no longer exist. The youngest component is 25 years old, and some are over 60. The bottle is a handmade Darlington crystal decanter with a metal label and a crystal stopper decorated with Celtic motifs. On the nose there is ripe pear, soft honey, fine dark chocolate and orange fondant. The palate is sweet and fruity, with plenty of peach, vanilla syrup and hazelnut, and the orange returns. The finish is long and flavourful.
