This is a 12 year old Blair Athol from the Highlands, distilled in 2008 and bottled in 2021 at 50% ABV for Claxton's Exploration Series.
It was matured in a bourbon hogshead and then finished in an Oloroso sherry quarter cask.
The nose is rich and full, with milk chocolate, melon and cinnamon, plus hints of red fruit and ripe yellow apples. On the palate come orange fruit, milk chocolate, butter cake, cinnamon and cloves. The finish is mouth-filling, with brandy, milk chocolate, citrus and melon.
