This is a 12 year old Highland single malt from Clynelish, released in the 2022 Diageo Special Releases under the Legends Untold, Chapter 2 theme. It marks the distillery's return to the series and is bottled at 58.5% in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky is matured in bourbon casks, then finished in PX and Oloroso sherry casks, which add sweetness, spice and layers of rich, dark fruit to the waxy, fruity distillery character.
The nose offers fruity mincemeat, tinned pears and heather honey, with oak spice beneath. The palate is rich and wine-sweet, balanced by peppery, oaky spice. The finish is fairly long, chilli-spiced and drying.
