This is a 1974 Clynelish, aged for 23 years and bottled in May 1998 at 59% ABV in a 70cl bottle. It was released in the Rare Malts Selection, the range of single malts from operational and lost distilleries issued by Diageo between 1995 and 2005.
It was the only official bottling of the 1974 vintage from this Highland distillery.
The whisky is described as lean and spicy, gently smoky and coastal in character. A thread of smoke runs through sweet, waxy orchard and citrus fruit, finishing with herbal, tweedy and minerally flavours.
