Cointreau is a clear orange liqueur of the triple sec style, made in Angers, France. It is produced from a blend of dried sweet and bitter orange peels, double distilled in copper stills, and carries no added colouring. Édouard Cointreau first balanced the two kinds of peel in 1875.
On the nose it is zesty and fragrant, with sweet Valencia and bitter Curaçao orange. The palate is crisp and clean, with orange peel, a hint of spice and a gentle sweetness that stays silky. The finish is long, fresh and dry, with a slight herbal note.
