Compass Box Metropolis Blended Malt Scotch Whisky (70cl, 49%)

Metropolis is the third release in Compass Box's Extinct Blends Quartet, a series that reimagines four blended Scotches from past decades. This one is a blended malt Scotch whisky at 49% ABV, non-chill-filtered and of natural colour, in a 70cl bottle. Its theme is the city, where blending vats in Glasgow and Edinburgh once filled bottles for markets around the world. The edition is 5,910 bottles. Vanilla comes first on the nose, then several honeys, fudge, apricot, pineapple and fresh fig. The palate is rich and complex, with sultana, apricot and hints of smoky woodiness, followed by a long, sweet finish with a pleasing weight.
