Compass Box The Story of the Spaniard (70cl, 43%)

The Story of the Spaniard is a blended malt from Compass Box, first released in 2018. It was inspired by a bespoke whisky the company created for a New York City bar called The Spaniard, and it takes that sherried style further for the permanent range. Early batches used sherry-seasoned casks alongside wine casks, a nod to the similarities between whisky-making and winemaking. The recipe has changed over time, but the full, soft character of sherry has stayed. On the palate it is full and soft, with jammy flavours of pears poached in red wine, citrus peel and spices. It is bottled at 43%.
