Ultramarine is a blended Scotch from Compass Box, part of its Extinct Blends Quartet, bottled at 51% in a 70cl bottle.
This limited edition pays tribute to the great blends of earlier decades. Malt and grain whiskies from several distilleries in Islay, Speyside and the Highlands, chosen for their long maturation, were aged in American oak (ex-bourbon and re-charred) and sherry-seasoned casks. It is non-chill filtered and of natural colour.
The nose offers toffee, honey, beeswax and raisins, with orange zest and a veil of peat. The palate is creamy, with caramel, dates and dark chocolate, and the finish is very long and dry.
