This is a 32 year old Convalmore single malt, distilled in 1984 and bottled at a natural cask strength of 48.2%. It was part of the 2017 Diageo Special Releases, the closed distillery's fourth appearance in that series.
The whisky comes from refill American oak hogsheads, and 3,972 bottles were released. A little water changes the texture of the malt and brings out stronger herbal notes.
The nose has Dolly Mix sweets and florals, then barley sugar, tangerine, apple and cedar. On the palate there are soft oak, spice, orange and tomato stem. The finish is gentle oak with birch sap, oatcakes and biscuits.
