This is Cragganmore 12 Year Old from the 2019 Diageo Special Releases, a Speyside single malt bottled at a cask strength of 58.4% ABV. It was matured for 12 years in refill American oak casks.
It is the first smoky whisky ever released by Cragganmore distillery.
The nose is gentle but a little prickly, with boiled sweets, apple pie, soft leather and polished wood, then a touch of peat smoke like campfire ash. The palate is smooth, rich and sweet before turning smoky. The finish is smoky, spicy and warming, with light dryness.
