This is a 30 year old Cragganmore from Speyside, distilled in 1990 and bottled in 2021 by Duncan Taylor for its Octave Premium range. After its long first maturation it was finished in a small sherry octave, and it was bottled at a cask strength of 48.5%.
The 89 bottles all come from a single cask. The whisky is non-chill-filtered and of natural colour.
The nose is meaty and malty, with pronounced sherry, Christmas spices, candied almonds, dark chocolate truffles and coffee beans. On the palate come dark chocolate, blood orange, raisins and dates, with dry fresh oak, cinnamon and nutmeg. The finish is long and full, with chocolate, dried fruit, toffee and orange.
