Craigellachie 13 2011/2024 - The Octave by Duncan Taylor - Cask #7540775

A 13 year old Craigellachie from Speyside, distilled in 2011 and bottled in 2024 by Duncan Taylor in its Octave series. It comes from cask number 7540775. The whisky matured in a conventional way first, then spent time in small sherry casks, where contact with the wood is more intense. The nose is layered, with ripe apples, blackberries and apricots alongside soft malt, nutmeg and mild cashew. The palate has caramel sweetness against the bitter edge of walnuts and a spicy cinnamon note. The finish is long, balancing fruit with spice.
