This is a 13 year old single malt from Craigellachie in Speyside, finished in ex-Bas-Armagnac casks and bottled at 46% in a 70cl bottle. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour. It was the first release in the distillery's Cask Collection.
The whisky first matured in American oak bourbon barrels, including some that had been used before and recharred. It then spent a little over a year in Bas-Armagnac casks from the north of Gascony in France.
The nose combines pineapple, baked apple and ripe yellow fruit with caramel, shortbread, vanilla and cinnamon. On the palate it is full and round, with sweet pineapple, baked apple and spice. The finish is long, fruity and spicy, with tropical fruit, toffee and a touch of smoke.
